The senior designer is a key member of our thoughtful creative team here at Rupert. You are highly organized, driven, and experienced in design with an acute understanding of client motivations. As a senior designer at Rupert you will work on a wide variety of projects for our clients, including brand and packaging, website and application design, online and print advertising, multi-page print projects, and PowerPoint presentations. Did we mention T-shirts and tradeshow booths? Seriously, everything.
Everyone here at Rupert takes our responsibility toward co-workers very seriously. We’re committed to helping our Senior Designer become a Design or Creative Director. We want you to grow.
You have to be there for the team. That means looking out for your account people, lending a hand to other designers, and generally having everybody’s back. The good news is that we have your back too.
We are all here to create great work for our clients. You are going to push us to make it even better. We want to look up to you and marvel at the work you bring to the table.
You are able to create multiple directions for projects—fast.
Presenting internally (say, to your creative director) should be old hat. Presenting to clients should be slightly easier.
Be a good communicator.
Project managers, account managers, studio managers are real, they are people and have opinions, often they share opinions with our clients. You should be excited to hear those opinions and implement them when they make sense to the account. Please know when they don’t.
You are here to push the work. Be ready to help other designers do the same.
Work on multiple projects at the same time and avoid having favorites. Can you bring the same love and attention to detail for four or five clients at once?
You thrive on coming up with novel solutions. You thrive on coming up with practical solutions. You go absolutely bonkers with joy when you do both at the same time.
Proven excellence in attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Highly motivated self-starter who can self-direct on large tasks
Experience with implementation. Make recommendations for how to get things printed, developed, built etc.
Experience with prepress, print proofs, and working with vendor specifications
Able to communicate clearly via email and face-to-face with clients and the internal team regarding project-related milestones.
Familiarity with working with brand style guides and understanding their expression across any medium. That means be able to think creatively within the confines of a particular brand and to be able to translate that brand into new forms, like music and video. Or maybe dance? Who knows?
Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, is required; experience with Powerpoint, Sketch, InVision and HTML5 a plus. Are you an After effects fan? That’d be interesting. Tell us about that!
Understanding of standards-based web design and CSS a plus
